The Brazilian exchange Mercado Bitcoin announced on Friday (5) the purchase of the educational platform Blockchain Academy.
The aim of the acquisition of the cryptocurrency education hub is to strengthen the education pillar within the Bitcoin Market.
The value of the deal, however, has not been revealed.
Exchange invests in education
As the MB explained in a statement shared with CriptoFácil, the action is the first move after the exchange receives a millionaire contribution led by GP Investimentos and Parallax Ventures.
As CriptoFácil reported, with the investment, MB plans to accelerate its growth in Latin America.
In addition, the acquisition is part of the Bitcoin Market plan to invest R $ 200 million in 2021. The exchange also explained that this plan includes the purchase of the publisher of Blockchain Academy.
According to Reinaldo Rabelo, CEO of the exchange, the deal will contribute to expanding the company’s leadership in the sector.
“Education has always been an important pillar for the Bitcoin market and is even more relevant now. It is, without a doubt, one of our main projects for the coming years. ”
Blockchain Academy was founded in 2016 and has taught courses to more than 5,000 students. At the same time, the project has already entered into partnerships with companies from different sectors.
Rabelo also stressed that the company is recognized as one of the main avenues for those operating in more traditional environments and wants to connect with blockchain technology and the world of cryptocurrency in general.
MB will expand project reach
Also according to the statement, with the acquisition by MB, the school’s founder, Rosine Kadamani, who has been in charge of the business until today, will leave the executive command of the company.
“I am very proud of BA’s history of pioneering and excellence. And I couldn’t trust anyone more than the leadership of the Bitcoin Market to continue and expand the reach of the project, ”said Kadamani.
MB noted that a new name to replace Kadamani will be announced shortly. Thus, the new executive will have the mission of reinforcing the positioning of the Blockchain Academy as the main source of knowledge in the sector.
To do this, it must work to expand ties with teachers and strengthen the internal team.
It should also increase the capacity to meet the growing demand and encourage the production of research, in partnership with educational entities.

VanEck ETF is Coming Next Week
A Bitcoin ETF has been long-awaited by both the crypto community and investors on Wall Street, many of whom have argued for years that approval by regulators would open up digital currencies to more mainstream investors. Some thought that the US might ban cryptocurrency altogether like China, but the government’s approval of Bitcoin Futures ETF is an indication that regulatory headwinds may not be as strong as some expect.
As the first Bitcoin-linked ETF has gotten the regulatory green light, many more are waiting in line. VanEck will be the second asset manager to share its part in this new era of Bitcoin. A document filed with the US SEC on October 20 indicates that the regulator has given the company permission to launch its fund after Saturday, October 23. The company has announced that its Bitcoin Strategy ETF, under the ticker symbol XBTF, will go live on Monday, October 25.
