This blockchain game has something special for the last player standing

An immersive blockchain game where players vie to collect Immortal Shards has announced the launch of play-to-earn elements — enabling devoted gamers to earn recognition for their skills and combat cred.

HodlGod’s new feature means that an array of nonfungible tokens and raffle tickets will be dropped randomly in the middle of gameplay, emerging above a character’s head. However, collecting these NFTs isn’t enough… you need to survive until the end of the game in order for them to be truly yours.

This approach is set to make playing HodlGod even more competitive than it was before — not least because other players can also see where these NFTs have landed, and who has them. It’ll take true grit, skill, and determination to emerge as the last player standing.

According to Onessus, the developers behind this game, each lobby has a 30% chance of being dropped a silver key, otherwise known as an NFT raffle ticket. Meanwhile, there’s a 10% chance of a golden bar emerging.

Based on the WAX blockchain, another new innovation comes in the form of the NFT-Fi ecosystem, a place where the distinctive tokens that gamers collect can be lent, burnt, staked and upgraded. All of this can open the door to higher-level NFTs that are even more scarce, giving players an all-important upper hand over their rivals.

Continual development

HodlGod says it is continually unveiling extras to keep gamers busy — with a new map also making its debut in the game. The title has been described as the first 3D RPG on the blockchain to be powered by Unreal Engine.

A new Immortal Gear set is imminent, and consists of four shards — including armor, a bow, a main-hand melee weapon, and an off-hand melee weapon.

It all begins by turning the four shards into a bounty contact and completing the array of quests that’s found within. Once all of the challenges are done, the Immortal Set is theirs to keep. These sets get rarer over time as greater numbers of gamers join the platform.

The developers behind the game told Cointelegraph: “An Unreal Engine game. With very real value. Blockchain gaming is still one of the most underrated sectors in crypto with no gaming coins breaching the top 50. We are leading the pack in showing the undeniable potential of this space with HodlGod.”

Level up

HodlGod says that it has amassed a wealth of partnerships in this thriving space — collaborating with the likes of Blockchain Heroes, Dark Country, Yield Guild Games, Gala Games, Bounty Blok, AtomicHub, and Uplift World.

Momentum in the blockchain-based gaming sector has been driven by a belief that players should have a greater stake in the experience, and crucially, that the in-game assets they encounter on their journeys should be theirs to keep. This paves the way for sales in secondary markets that can prove lucrative for gamers with coveted assets.

The launch of play-to-earn mechanics has been complemented by the introduction of a stream-to-earn formula — encouraging YouTube and Twitch personalities with at least 500 subscribers to immerse themselves in the game in front of their live audiences.

Looking ahead, HodlGod plans to successfully bridge the gap between DeFi and NFTs — and is in talks with large game publishing platforms about bringing its cutting-edge concepts mainstream. HodlGod is live now for enthusiasts to begin playing. The game will get new features regularly, including new content and maps, with a fully fledged mainstream version ready for the end of 2021.

The HodlGod community is active on the official Discord channel.
