Bitcoin and other crypto ATMs have seen enormous growth since the beginning of 2021 , recording + 265% of new installations in just 6 months.
As reported by Radar Coin ATM, the ATM crypto in the world increased from 6,373 at the beginning of the year to a total of 23,248 at the end of June 2021 . Mind-boggling figures if you consider that in the same six months, Bitcoin has seen its price rise to over $ 60,000 to return to $ 30,000.
And, in fact, with the crypto trading frenzy after a year of pandemic, many have thought that Bitcoin ATMs were a solution: a way to bring more and more people closer to the crypto world.
It is no coincidence that already in April 2021 , the numbers of bitcoin ATMs installed in the world were already at 17,827 and that the expansion forecasts of experts in this sector were in fact over 20,000 by June 2021.
Of course, these numbers do not involve the scams associated with crypto ATMs. Like the case recently in the United States, where two women lost a total of $ 15,000 after receiving a phone call from a pseudo-city public security official who manipulated them.
Bitcoin ATM in the world: the data of the report
The boom for mass adoption of crypto, therefore, continues to expand like wildfire. At the top of the ranking, there is the United States, which hosts 85% of Bitcoin ATMs and other cryptocurrencies from around the world. Specifically, there are 20,000 bitcoin ATMs in the US.
They are followed by Canada in second place with around 1,532 and, in third place, by the United Kingdom with 157 machines installed.
The major producers of Bitcoin ATMs worldwide see, instead, the following names:
- Genesis Coin with 40.3% of bitcoin ATMs installed;
- General Bytes with 24.3% of crypto ATMs installed;
- BitAccess with 11.6% of crypto ATMs installed;
Among the top crypto operators of bitcoin ATMs , the report shows Bitcoin Depot, CoinCloud and Coin Flip on the podium, with respectively 3393, 2537 and 2415 machines installed.
If, on the other hand, we are talking about crypto that more than others are bought or sold through bitcoin ATMs around the world, then to date, the report puts Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC) and Ethereum (ETH) among the top three. positions , followed by Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin and Dash.
New free installations of Bitcoin ATM also in Salvador
But the expansion of crypto ATMs doesn’t seem to end there! Indeed, recently another crypto ATM operator Athena Bitcoin revealed its intention to install 1500 bitcoin ATMs for free in El Salvador , the new country that approves crypto by law.
It is about offering a cash-to-crypto business to involve citizens in adopting BTC and other altcoins.
In this regard, the company’s director for Latin America, Matias Goldenhörn , said:
“The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele presented us with a difficult challenge of 1,500 ATMs, we will go for that, but in stages. We are a private company and we want to ensure that our development in the country is sustainable “
At the end of last month, Bukele had made official that, in El Salvador, Bitcoin will become a legal tender in the country starting from 7 September.
