Rio Carnival reaches the metaverse with NFTs from “Mulheres do Samba”
Rio de Janeiro’s 2022 carnival is about to end, but only in the physical world. That’s because the biggest party of the people arrived in the metaverse.
The biggest box in the Rio sambadrome, Nosso Camarote, announced this Friday (29) that it has partnered with the company Femtech Iara Land to have its own space in the Decentraland metaverse.
With the initiative, the box becomes the first of the Brazilian carnival to have a presence in the Web 3.0 ecosystem.
Sambadrome box in the metaverse
As informed to CriptoFácil o Nosso Camarote, in virtual worlds, users will be able to walk through the corridors of the Camarote without leaving home.
In addition, they will be able to see the exhibition of the collection of NFTs “Mulheres do Samba”, created by the companies Moeda Seeds and All.be.Tuned.
According to the statement, the collection will initially honor Leci Brandão, Clementina de Jesus, Leny Andrade and Áurea Martins with digital arts. There will be four exclusive digital arts, with 10 unique tokens of each.
The NFTs will be on sale on the OpenSea platform during the Champions Parade that will be held this Saturday (30th).
Comparators will have the option to purchase digital artwork authenticated with Ether (ETH) cryptocurrency. But there will also be credit card payment options.
Muse of the cabin is avatar
Another novelty announced by Nosso Camarote is the “digital muse” Princess AI (Aiana), which will be in the form of an avatar.
The muse was developed by digital designer Cairê Moreira in partnership with BRIFW. Her look was inspired by the digital punk style with the official abadá of the box.
The guests in the stateroom were also able to try on the avatar looks digitally. That’s because the cabin created augmented reality filters in partnership with artists Mary the Hawk, Sonni, Priscila Nassar and Gamashoo.
“Carnival is very much related to history and tradition. But it can also point to the future: these new metaverse technologies, NFTs and augmented reality bring us other opportunities to experience art, fashion and carnival. The possibilities are endless and we have to be aware of these new trends”, said Carol Sampaio, partner of Nosso Camarote.
Carnival enters Web3
In addition to the box, two samba schools in Rio de Janeiro also launched their own NFTs.
According reported by CriptoFácil, the champion 2022 Acadêmicos do Grande Rio and the seventh placed Estação Primeira de Mangueira launched their own collections of digital items.
The initiative was the result of a partnership between the associations of the Special Group and the company IDG, headquartered in California, United States.
