Durex announces plans to enter the metaverse with condoms in NFTs

The popular condom company Durex recently held a request to the United States Patent Office, to file a series of trademark registrations involving NFTs and cryptocurrencies.
Durex’s application for registration revealed the company’s different plans to enter the metaverse, which could make it the first brand to set up this type of business in the virtual universe.
However, the company has yet to reveal much information regarding when or how it would make its first foray into the metaverse and the NFTs.
Durex and its plans in the metaverse
Although Durex has not provided specific details about the Web3 project, the company has already specified several elements registered in the patent application.
Among them stand out:
- Cryptocurrency mining.
- Virtual condoms.
- Cryptocurrencies.
- NFTs
- Downloadable media files.
- Financial services with cryptocurrencies.
The race of brands to enter the metaverse
In the year 2022, more than 3,300 patents related to the metaverse were registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), for several brands worldwide.
Among the most popular brands that have started their plans to enter the metaverse are:

- ITAÚ
- RENNER
- Stella Artois.
- Ralph Lauren.
- Bellagio Casinos.
- Jose Cuervo.
- Gucci.
- slit.
- Balenciaga.
During the last few months, the metaverse seems to have caught the attention of large and medium-sized companies around the world, providing new business opportunities and allowing users to experience technological solutions through quality interactive experiences.
