Meta now allows users to post NFTs on Facebook and Instagram



Social media giant Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, is moving forward with its plans to bring non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to its users.

The latest news is that users can now publish their NFTs on both Facebook and Instagram. The announcement was made by Meta last Monday (29) in a note.

As the company reported, users of both social networks will be able to connect their digital wallets to share NFTs:

“As we continue to release digital collectibles on Facebook and Instagram, we have started to give people the ability to post the digital collectibles they have on Facebook and Instagram. This will allow people to connect their digital wallets once to either app to share their digital collectibles across both,” Meta said.

Some of the wallets supported by social media include Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask Wallet, Trust Wallet, among others.

Prior to that, on August 4th, Meta had announced that it was expanding actions focused on NFTs to 100 countries. The nations are from Africa, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and the Americas. That is, almost for everyone.

On the occasion, Mark Zuckerberg’s company also reported on adding support to the wallet of Coinbase and Dapper. In addition, it communicated that it would be possible to post minted NFTs on the Flow blockchain.

“To post a digital collectible, all you have to do is connect your digital wallet to Instagram. Blockchains supported at this time include Ethereum, Polygon and Flow. There are no fees associated with posting or sharing a digital collectible on Instagram.”

As CriptoFácil reported, the ability to share NFTs on social media apps started with an Instagram test with selected creators and collectors in the United States in July.

According to Meta, in supporting NFTs, the idea is to “improve accessibility, lower barriers to entry and help make the NFT sector more inclusive for all communities”.

As the company highlighted, creators are using NFTs to gain more control over their work and how they interact with their fans. In addition, it is a new way to monetize your content,

“At Meta, we are looking at what creators are already doing in our technologies to improve the experience, help them create more monetization opportunities, and bring NFTs to a wider audience,” Meta said in May of this year.
