Ripple Launches Test Phase for Ethereum-Based Smart Contracts on XRPL

In mid-September, David Schwartz, one of the original architects of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Ripple, had presented his concept of an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible sidechain. His idea was to allow the execution of smart contracts on Ethereum on the XRP Ledger, and thus lower the barriers to entry for developers.

Today, the XRPL ecosystem is one step closer to achieving this goal. As reported by Mayukha Vadari of RippleX Developers, Peersyst has implemented and published the first phase of the sidechain on the XRPL devnet.
