In a significant move for cryptocurrency integration, Cardano co-founder Charles Hoskinson has confirmed that XRP support will soon be available on the Lace wallet, developed by Input Output Global (IOG) . This announcement came during a recent ask-me-anything (AMA) session, signaling a new chapter in the relationship between two major blockchain ecosystems.

The Evolution of Lace Wallet

Lace, Cardano’s non-custodial Web3 wallet, has been steadily expanding its capabilities since its public mainnet launch in April 2023 . Initially supporting only Cardano-native assets like ADA, the wallet has undergone several significant updates to enhance user experience and functionality.

The wallet’s journey toward multi-chain support began in earnest when it added Bitcoin integration in April 2025 . This addition allowed users to store, send, and receive BTC directly through the Lace interface, marking the beginning of its expansion beyond the Cardano ecosystem.

What This Means for Users

Once XRP integration is complete, Lace users will gain the ability to:

• Store XRP alongside their ADA and Bitcoin holdings

• Send and receive XRP directly through the wallet

• Manage multiple cryptocurrencies in a single interface

This integration represents another step in Lace’s transformation into a comprehensive multi-chain wallet, offering users greater flexibility and convenience in managing their digital assets.

Improving Blockchain Relations

The announcement also highlights an interesting shift in the relationship between Cardano and Ripple. Hoskinson confirmed that discussions between IOG and Ripple teams are “moving well,” suggesting that previous rivalries between the blockchain projects may be fading .

This collaboration comes at an interesting time for both cryptocurrencies. XRP is expected to gain further regulatory clarity as the Ripple vs. SEC case reaches its final settlement, while Cardano continues to develop its ecosystem with new integrations and partnerships .

The Bigger Picture

The integration of XRP into Lace wallet reflects a broader trend in the cryptocurrency space toward interoperability and cross-chain functionality. As Brandon Wolf, Lace General Manager, stated, “This is just the beginning,” emphasizing that the goal is to make Lace a one-stop wallet for all major blockchains .

Additionally, there have been discussions about potentially integrating Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin into the Cardano ecosystem, which could further strengthen the connection between these two major cryptocurrency projects .

As the cryptocurrency market continues to mature, these types of integrations and partnerships may become increasingly common, providing users with more seamless experiences across different blockchain networks.
